Hard at Work

I've been working like mad to build up my holiday inventory at Stuff. I just love mosaicing boxes. The sky's the limit with what fun goodies you can cram onto them!

I'm obsessed with tintypes! I've mentioned before how spooky it is that people didn't smile for photos back in the day. So serious! (Seriously good looking in this case!)

Check out the beat up doll leg and the tiny perfume bottle on the side of this box.

I could never get tired of old keys and I enjoy the black and white color combo. I always have to sneak in lots and lots of buttons.

A doll arm, lady's watch, and earring are buried on this side.

The golden brooch on the upper left corner of the box is a good example of something I bought months ago and was waiting for the perfect place. I got this brooch at Urban Mining, a great shop that's open only once on the first weekend of the month at 39th and Main in Kansas City. The "10" tile came from a friend's yard sale and the domino from Old School Flea (of course!)

I have several cork boards at stuff. One is Halloween-themed, one is black and red, and one is yellow and orange with a rusty old grapefruit can stuck on one side. I added this pink and black one to the mix this week.

I really like the look of old typewriter keys. And you can see that I ordered some more of those tiny chef beads from Smudgie Bear on Etsy. I love these things!

The other chef to this pair of salt and pepper shakers went into a chalkboard and is currently at Stuff. I have a thing for old butter pats.

This salt shaker was missing it's pair -- something that's just fine for my mosaic work. I like the vintage look of the pink.

I'm running out of old flatware and need to replenish my supply. Maybe I'll take a trip to Blackwell's Thrift on 63rd and Troost. If you haven't been there, you're missing out. Mr. and Mrs. Blackwell have been there for over 25 years and have a talent for not only finding cool stuff, but for displaying it in the most amazingly organized ways. I wish I had some of that talent.

I already have several xmas plaques at Stuff ready for the season, but I want to add a few chalkboards to the collection. I get tired of red and green for xmas, and am digging the unusual look of the pink and black Santa. Santa has to be pretty comfortable with his manhood to wear a pink get-up like this one.

Xmas just wouldn't be the same without pink dice.

Beaded earrings add a cool dimension because you can totally change the look by how you grout over them. I went light on this one. Sometimes, I'll fill everything in and only leave the tops of the beads exposed.

It's not too early to start thinking about holiday gifts. If you want to surprise your friends and family, give them one-of-a-kind, personalized art. It's interesting and functional. Please comment me for more details.
