Skulls for My Sweet
Got these babies on Ebay this week and I can hardly wait to get started gluing some broken dishes to them!!!
Can you picture a pink one with a big, gawdy brooch afixed like a bow to the top of her head? Me, too!!!!

Frozen Charlotte
I love broken and grazed frozen Charlotte's. This one is missing some limbs but doesn't she look right at home on this double switch plate?

I used my last asymmetrical heart form in the last post and went frantically searching for more on Ebay this morning. It had been several years since I had purchased them but was able to look through my records and bingo! Whew. I also found a large fashion boot form, skulls and some cupcakes. It's really fun to mosaic on these flat, wooden forms. Many ideas swirling and I can't wait to get started!

I Heart Breaking Dishes
More mosaics headed to a fabulous shop called Frank in Los Gatos, California, south of San Francisco. The owner, Kristy Kent, says her customers are really loving the off-color mosaic hearts and I'm happy to make them!

"Dream"

I took a trip to the Cowtown Mallroom today, pictures on my other blog HERE. I picked up some cool mosaic fodder both there and on Etsy. Gotta keep that inspiration flowin'!

Left-of-the-Dial
I finished up some funky mosaics today including this cute/strange little watering can.

Strange because some oddball things made their way into it. Like this cow.
And Jesus.
And a cat.
And a buffalo. No particular artistic meaning to any of it except I liked the way it came together.
Next up, a mosaic mirror complete with nude woman salt and pepper shakers. I see these in antique malls sometimes and I think they're fun.

Cool glass bulb that really came to life when I sprayed the piece with clear gloss.
Once again, no particular artistic meaning, just left-of-the-dial like me.

Garden
Come on spring!!!! Yesterday, we reached temps of around 60 and today we'll be back down to the low 40's. Boo hoo. While I wait for spring to come and to STAY, I'm making some garden inspired mosaics including this magnetized chalk board.
Such a cute little chalk holder.
These Anagram letters are some of my favorite to create with.
This flower is the lightest of green and came from a vase.

I've very excited about these mosaics. Jane Maloy took one of my mosaic classes last fall and has gone on to create some amazing things.
I love her use of small white buttons here. And look at those tiny pearls.
Her use of color in this gazing ball is terrific.

Keep up the great work, Jane!
Although Stuff is no longer holding classes at their store, I am planning on some spring dates at my home when it's warm enough to set up in the garage. I'll post those on my blog soon.

I Like Grout
Grouting is my favorite part of the mosaic process. It's when everything kind of comes together. Broken pieces and found objects pulled into a common piece . . .
And united again with the grout.
There's a time when it's all a mess; most of my students are sort of freaked out at this point, thinking that what they've worked so hard to glue together is ruined.

But little by little, as you buff away the grout, the objects peek through again.

Until the finished piece emerges.

I do this heart again and again and no matter what part of the country I send them to, somebody out there as sick as I loves roaches.

How awesome is this bottle of typewriter oil with the tiny cork plug?
I got a request last week from the shop in Los Gatos, California called Frank, "Send more Valentine hearts!" A fun piece any time of year.
Here's something I haven't done for a long time, switch plates.

Another day off tomorrow to continue the fun!
I do this heart again and again and no matter what part of the country I send them to, somebody out there as sick as I loves roaches.
